<%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%> MickWalker H.W.(Mick) Walker.TD - Harry, (also Known as Mick) died on the 28 May 1997, aged 82 years. Although he had a history of prostate trouble, he died of a burst heart artery in his sleep whilst in Hospital. Harry was a pre war Territorial in the RAOC and enlisted on the outbreak of war in 1939. He became an Army PTI, attaining the rank of SSGT and passed P Coy on January 1941. He joined the 2nd Bn Parachute Regiment on November 2nd 1941and was attached to 'A' and 'HQ' companies. He and other PTI's from the 1st and 3rd Bns were engaged in training 'would be' Para's before the RAF instructors took over. During this time he accomplished jumps in triple figures. Harry served in North africa and was posted back to 1st Airborne Div OFP, prior to the invasion of Sicily and went with them to Sicily and Italy, finally to Arnhem. He was part of the six man team of the ROAC Advanced Parachute Recce Party attached to 2nd Bn. Harry was wounded and captured on the 4th day and was also one of those POW's who took part in an epic march from upper Silesia to avoid the Russians. After Demob he became a transport manager for the Birmingham Co-operative Society.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
